Unfortunate situation

Pros

Grower owned - there’s a purpose.

Cons

Too many changes. Jobs being outsourced to India. Good, smart employees being laid off. If you managed to keep your job until now, you know not to get comfortable. They’re likely to keep reviewing and assessing to make it even more agile = more jobs outsourced/ more jobs lost. It’s now a way of life... once you start outsourcing, it just keeps going and going. Not the best place to start a career in my opinion. Got me thinking of changing careers. If they can outsource here, they can outsource anywhere! Diminished feeling of purpose ....

Pros

Not working here anymore. I would say the benefits were nice but management will disregard the entire cons section and talk about the one pro to promote themselves.

Cons

The environment and poor culture management created was horrific. I've never seen such blatant lies and misdirection from senior management in my life. They keep talking about how amazing of a job they are doing and patting themselves on the back when the foot soldiers are dealing with constant failures that management keeps wanting to ignore. Too many things are failing. They sent the entire IT department to India and it has been a complete mess. Things that used to take 2-3 hours are taking weeks and months and costing the company more money right now but they keep telling everyone how awesome it all is. Some of us can't get crucial parts of our jobs done since IT has been a massive let down the last few months with all the cuts. Finance has been gutted and its only getting worse. With no regard to their employees lives, forced Marketing into Boston drastically impacting their lives. Constant almost weekly lay offs. The worst part is how management has carried themselves. They cheer on and promote hateful sentiment. Someone called out some of the toxic people and management made everyone stop and clap for the person kissing up. Pathetic. Take a second and realize why some people are toxic. Some of us were/are FORCED to come in early, leave late, work threw lunch to keep up with the bare minimum work load EVERY single day so the company can stay functional because our departments were slashed and cut down by 50%-60%. Found a better job and left because of the mess management has created and there was no end in sight.

While we agree that change has been challenging for some of our colleagues, and reorganized how we are structured, we do have to push back on some of your comments. We care deeply about our colleagues, those with us and those who have transitioned out of the business, and are proud of our best-in-class benefits and compensation. We also listen closely to our employees’ feedback—it’s why we do those surveys, hold Town Halls, and provide opportunities to engage and speak up. Lastly, tech transformation remains ongoing, and while any transition can bring with it hiccups, our Tech Team is now better-positioned for our business and strategy. Our brand remains exceptional. Our commitment to our farmer-owners in making this a modern cooperative that delivers strong results is unwavering. It’s a bright future ahead.

Pros

The people on the bottom level are good genuine hard working people who believe we are a family.

Cons

Corporate mentality has sunk in. Laying off people in a booming economy all because they can't figure out how to steer the ship. They bring in systems that never work correctly and don't have a clue what continuous improvement means. Figure out the problem first before making numerous changes, people have called out these issues but nothing is done about it. Business is business I get it, but there has been a lot of talent here and its like pulling teeth to get anything done that would seem like it should be common sense. I don't know if it is egos or laziness up at the top but companies that preach family should operate bottom up and not top down.

In July, Ocean Spray announced the final phase of its tech-led transformation, which will modernize our business and make it more flexible, as well as create more meaningful and strategic roles to deliver on our goals and growth strategy. Unfortunately, with that change, some of our colleagues will be transitioning out of our cooperative. We recognize the range of emotions this announcement caused, as demonstrated by these recent posts. We hope you will come speak with us about your feelings rather than post online-- we are here to help. We are confident this is the right business decision, both for our Farmer-Owners and for the health and growth of the business. Our goal has and will remain to treat any impacted colleagues with respect, provide them with assistance and transitional benefits, and also take care of our team as we move forward together. Our business strategy is working, we delivered on our commitments this year, and we are proud of the accomplishments all of our have colleagues worked so hard for. We remain excited and ready for the future.
