Good education benefits but poor support - Physical Therapist Assistant Upstream Rehabilitation Employee Review

Pros

They have a good continuing education allowance and a good mentorship program. I will say all the therapists and office coordinators are fantastic.

Cons

The work life balance is poor and they do not have a good support system for therapists. Therapist are expected to give high-quality care of patients while they are either booked or triple booked as well as clean the clinic and maintain laundry without either a tech to help or a cleaning service as well as complete documentation within the hour and have no overtime. Another con is due to the size of the company, HR is extremely hard to get of hold of. No phone number listed and emails take 2 weeks to get a response. When I left, I gave a 4 week notice, except technically I missed it by 3 days, only one of those being business day. Because I was 3 days short of 4 weeks, they declined to pay out my PTO. Potential employees beware

Pros

Flexibility of schedule to a point, the ability to work remote, they provide all the tools you need to do your job.

Cons

Heavily monitored, like if you are away from your desk and your mouse is not moving for 10 minutes, they will know and flag you for it. They also have software on every machine that recognizes mouse patterns and "Jigglers" as several people have been let go for having these or being away from their desk for repeated and long amounts of time. But they are so strict you cannot even go to the bathroom without someone knowing and possibly saying something. You also cannot have kids in the room with you when you work. They are very inflexible, when you are working, you are working and doing nothing else and they want you to do this 8 hours, 5 days with no stoppage whatsoever. The work/life balance for the Credentialing Specialist is okay, but the PTO really sucks. You don't get any when you start and you have to work a substantial amount of time before you can accumulate any. You get kind of chastised for taking time off, even unpaid time off. Benefits are not great if you have to support a family or child, it is very expensive.

Thanks for sharing your experience—we’re glad to hear the remote setup, flexibility, and tools have been helpful. We understand that expectations around time management can feel challenging, especially in a remote role. Our intention is to create a balance between flexibility and accountability, while supporting our team in doing their best work. That said, feedback like this is important and helps us continue to evaluate where we can improve. If you’re open to sharing more about your experience, we’d appreciate the opportunity to connect.
