Denizens of Denison University know that it's a private undergraduate school with an enrollment of about 2,100 and a student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 10-to-1. It offers more than 45 majors, concentrations, and pre-professional programs. The small-town college has a 250-acre main campus and a 500-acre biological reserve. Alumni of Denison (Denisonians) include US Senator Richard Lugar, former Walt Disney CEO Michael Eisner, and actor Steve Carell. Denison was founded in 1831 by the Ohio Baptist Education Society as the Granville Literary and Theological Institution. It's current name is in honor of benefactor William S. Denison.
